The Learning Data Research Center of the Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI) at Seoul National University is pleased to host an invited lecture titled “The Future of Humanity in the Age of AI.”
We welcome Prof. Sung-Hyun Maeng (Vice President for Planning and Dean of the Graduate School of AI Convergence Strategy, Taejae University; Emeritus Professor, School of Computing, KAIST) to explore strategies for human–AI collaboration and coexistence, as well as the key competencies future generations will need.

About the Speaker:
Prof. Maeng is an Emeritus Professor at KAIST’s School of Computing and currently serves as Vice President for Planning and Dean of the Graduate School of AI Convergence Strategy at Taejae University. Over the past 30 years, he has published more than 250 papers in the fields of natural language processing, text mining, and information retrieval. His career includes appointments as Professor at Temple University and tenured Professor at Syracuse University, and since 2003, he has served at KAIST as Director of the Global e-Learning Center, Founding Chair of the Graduate School of Web Science & Engineering, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, ICT Endowed Chair Professor, and Director of the KAIST–Samsung SDS AI Research Center. His notable publications include AGI 시대와 인간의 미래 (The Future of Humanity in the AGI Era) and Experiential Knowledge Mining.
This lecture will examine the societal, economic, and cultural changes anticipated with the rise of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and introduce educational directions and key competencies for future generations.
The session will be held in a hybrid format, and we look forward to your participation.
