On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Seoul National University College of Education successfully hosted the opening ceremony of the "2023 INEI (International Network of Educational Institutes) International Academic Conference" at the Hoam Faculty House. Deans, vice-deans, and professors from various prestigious universities, including the University of Wisconsin, University of Toronto, University of Melbourne, Beijing Normal University, University of São Paulo, Nanyang Technological University, and Hiroshima University, participated in the conference, which ran from October 11 (Wednesday) to October 13 (Friday).





This year, the conference was co-hosted with the ICER (International Conference on Education Research) organized by the Seoul National University Education Research Institute. The theme of the conference was "Educational Restoration and Growth: Resilience, Advocacy, and Empowerment," focusing on discussing educational issues such as the widening educational gap and mental health problems exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the first day of the conference, Professor Nancy Law from the University of Hong Kong delivered a keynote speech on "Digital Citizenship and Resilience in the Post-Digital Era." This was followed by a lecture by Professor Jinwoong Song from Seoul National University on "Responding to the Digital Transformation Era in Korean Science Education."
A workshop titled "Learning Design Studio for e-Learning" by Professor Nancy Law was conducted amidst high interest from professors and students. Additionally, parallel sessions featured presentations from various universities on topics such as "Quality Education for All," "Insights and Collaboration for Future Education," and "Innovations in Teaching and Learning." The conference facilitated discussions and presentations on the direction of future education in response to the digital transformation era, as well as educational strategies to enhance student well-being and socio-emotional competencies.
Dean Junho Kang of the College of Education at Seoul National University reflected on the INEI General Assembly, stating, "This has been a meaningful occasion to contemplate and prepare for future educational innovations in collaboration with prestigious teacher education institutions worldwide, in response to the changing demands and trends of our times. We look forward to strengthening our cooperation with INEI member schools to make Seoul National University a platform for global educational innovation."
INEI is a consortium of world-leading teacher education institutions established to share common experiences and achievements within the education community. It includes 11 prestigious member schools, including Seoul National University, and conducts annual deans' meetings, general assemblies, research support programs, and workshops.
